ACR White Paper recommendations (Gore, et al. J Am Coll Radiol 2017;14:1429-1437) suggest the following:
For patients with low risk of having a malignant hepatic lesion, prompt hepatic protocol MRI is recommended for further evaluation.
For patients with high risk of having a malignant hepatic lesion, prompt hepatic protocol MRI or biopsy (core biopsy is preferred over FNA) is recommended for further evaluation.
